This year marked my second opportunity to lead a UI/UX design workshop for Fazztrack, a prestigious development program for management trainees at a leading banking institution. After the success of the first session in 2023, I was excited to return and share my knowledge with a fresh batch of 2024 trainees.
🚀 A Full Day of UI/UX Learning with Fazztrack Trainees
The day began with a deep dive into UI/UX design principles. I introduced the trainees to the Design Thinking process—a human-centered approach that involves understanding users, defining their problems, ideating solutions, and testing prototypes. We discussed how these principles apply specifically to the banking industry, helping the trainees grasp how thoughtful design can drive customer satisfaction and business success.
🎨 Hands-On Practice with Figma
After covering the foundational concepts, we transitioned into hands-on practice with Figma, one of the most powerful tools for UI/UX design and prototyping. I guided the trainees through a UI design project—from initial wireframes to interactive prototypes. Figma made it easy to show the trainees how to turn their ideas into tangible designs quickly and collaboratively.
🤝 Group Collaboration & Prototyping Projects
The highlight of the session was the group discussion and collaborative work. The trainees were divided into teams and tasked with creating a prototype for a banking app. The focus was on applying the Design Thinking approach to identify user pain points and craft solutions through design. The session emphasized not just individual work, but also team collaboration, which is essential in real-world design projects.
📈 Key Takeaways
By the end of the session, the trainees had:
Gained an understanding of how to apply Design Thinking to real-world problems
Learned how to create UI wireframes and prototypes using Figma
Collaborated in groups to bring their designs to life in a practical setting
It was an amazing experience to see the management trainees from diverse backgrounds apply design concepts to banking-related projects and use Figma to build interactive prototypes.
It’s always inspiring to be part of such a dynamic learning environment, and I look forward to continuing to help professionals from all sectors understand the power of design.
